Coping with loss is perhaps one of the worst feeling in the world, as you will have to go through many stages of sadness and blame. Nevertheless, it is a natural process, and you should let time heal your wounds. Try to avoid rushing the phases of grief, as it will only create more grief. With yoga, you can start the healing process and make sure you pull through.
As someone with a Type A personality, the pose that challenges me the most in my yoga practice is Savasana. At the end of a sweaty sequence of poses, I feel on my game and ready to take on my day. Iwant to get up, shower off, and go. I’ve got coffee to drink and pages to write. I don’t want to lay down and feel the chaos of my mind swirling and pulsating against my forehead. Regardless of how aesthetically strong my practice looks, while laying in SavasanaI sometimes feel like a failure. Does this pose ever get easier? Will the noise in my head ever quiet? And what exactly am I supposed to bedoinganyway?
What, in Goddess’ name, does that yoga teacher mean when she tells you to breathe? Obviously you are already breathing--otherwise you’d be dead. Most teachers, especially in a faster-paced class, don’t have the time to actually explain whatujjayi means or how to do it beyond the common instruction to constrict the back of your throat a little bit to make that whispering sound. That instruction can be helpful, butujjayi is about so much more than that.
Human beings no longer know how to stand, walk and sit properly. We used to, but technology and comfort in our modern life have changed the way we do things, and not for the best.
